Baked Camembert

A baked, ripe cheese is an excellent starter or snack.

If the cheese on its own isn’t artery-hardening enough for you, consider trying this baked Camembert spaghetti.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Camembert
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & Pepper

Directions

Heat the oven to 180degC

Unwrap the Camembert.

With the cheese on its side, carefully slice off the rind from the top taking care not to bring too much cheese with it. You'll find this easier if you do this as soon as you take the cheese out of the fridge, so that it doesn't soften too much.

Put the cheese back in its box, exposed side up.

Peel the garlic cloves, and slice them into slivers of 1 or 2mm thick. Push these into the top of the Camembert.

Strip the thyme leaves from the sprigs, and sprinkle these on the top of the cheese.

Give the whole thing some salt and pepper, and a sprinkle of olive oil.

Put in the oven for about 20 minutes or until gooey all the way through.

Serve with some crusty bread for dipping.
